Designer Spotlight: Kyree Forrest X Lines & Current

As well as celebrating NI’s existing talent, Designed By. is also about highlighting up-and-coming fashion designers such as Derry based designer Kyree Forrest. Penned as “One to Watch” by the Irish Innovation Awards, we already can’t take our eyes of this new brand.

Since graduating from Ulster University, Kyree has exhibited her signature pieces in Brown Thomas, at the Rose of Tralee 2016, and more recently for the House of Ikons at this season’s London Fashion Week. In addition to supporting Belfast Design Week by showing her latest collection at Designed By. in November, Kyree has also received an invitation to showcase at Vancouver Fashion Week in the spring.

A young brand with an ambitious ethos, Kyree’s collection combines thread innovation with marketability. Her range of luxury ready-to-wear and bespoke gowns is full of strong, powerful statement pieces. Working out of the Fashion and Textile Design Centre in Derry, Kyree’s designs intend to empower women to unleash their inner femme fatale. Her debut line is rich in textural and geometric foundations, translating into a monochromatic palette accompanied by contemporary patchwork design.

Against the modern, stripped-back setting of The MAC, Kyree’s simple, chiaroscuro collection is sure to find its stride at the Designed By. show. A minimalist magician, Kyree’s signature design lies in the ‘less is more’ philosophy so it made sense to style her looks with minimalist everyday jewellery brand Lines and Current and its AW16 collection.  Forged by an independent accessories designer, Rebekah, Lines and Current is a range that blends together simple lines with a discreet twist. More than just fashion accessories, Rebekah has created a social community surrounding the concept of ‘Minimal but with meaning’ which flows right through from design to the vibes and lifestyle of the wearer.
