Fringe: Art @ Atelier / Plastic Landscapes by Andrew Haire

  • Atelier Design 7 Wellington Place Belfast, BT1 6GB United Kingdom (map)

Atelier-Design welcome you to the launch evening of the latest in their Art@Atelier Exhibitions for November 2015.

In its second year, Art@Atelier is a successful calendar of monthly exhibitions showcasing the work of established and up and coming Artists and Designers from across Northern Ireland and Ireland.

Plastic Landscapes is an exhibition of new landscape paintings and drawings by Belfast artist, Andrew Haire.

Through photography and painting, Haire explores image manipulation and the properties and possibilities of acrylic paint. He combines the subject matter of alien-looking and highly atmospheric landscapes with an experimental and innovative approach to acrylic painting.

This exhibition focuses on the rugged landscapes of Iceland and Ireland, two places which have inspired Haire’s recent work. In these new studies, Haire explores the dynamic nature of the landscapes he visits and photographs. By experimenting with techniques such as image transfers, acrylic paint skins, gel glazes and collaged Perspex, the finished art has many layers and is highly textured with a variable surface that shifts in different lighting conditions. Creating the work in this way highlights the here and now of being in a landscape as it is subjected to weather and light. The artist is grateful to The Arts Council of Northern Ireland  for helping to fund this series. The Artist will be discussing his work and design process on the evening. Refreshments will be served.

Atelier-Design is an Interior Design Home Store and Showroom based in the heart of Belfast City Centre, stocking the leading brands in the World of Interiors, Home wares and accessories. The design practice offers a bespoke Interior Design Service for both Residential and Commercial clients.
