FRINGE: McCadden & the Belfast Brand Identity

In early 2017, McCadden was commissioned to create a new visual identity for the city of Belfast.

"Our brief was based upon four key foundations:

  • bring the written Brand Proposition to life, summed-up by the essence, Belfast: Energy Unleashed 
  • create a deliberately dynamic identity system, capable of reflecting the rich diversity of our city and communicating eloquently with a huge spectrum of audiences
  • deliver something that would feel real for us Belfastians/Belfasters/Belfastards (no-one’s ever really nailed that term!)
  • help to positively shake-up some staid misperceptions about our city that exist locally and beyond our shores

Wee buns, we thought...

Having been embraced by multiple public, private and non-profit partners, our new identity solution is now in the process of rolling out across the city and further afield.

Despite a premature birth on the lovely Nolan Show, the identity is now gaining some real momentum and winning hearts and minds.

Soon, the system will be released for use by everyone who wants to become part of our city’s expression. That’s when the real fun will start.

The event in Bullitt on the 6th will be an opportunity to see the full expression of the brand identity system, hear how we’ve arrived where we are and hopefully get some discussion going about how the people of the city can take this new tool and make it their own."
