Design Council is 75 this year, having been set up in 1944 to advance UK design by whatever means practicable, as part of efforts to rebuild the post-war economy. Over three quarters of a decade it has evolved alongside design practice more generally, spreading design into new sectors and demonstrating the value of design through a number of practical on the ground programmes, strong evaluation and research, which is used to influence government and make the case for policy which allows this to happen at scale.
This session is an open session for anyone who is interested in the history of the Design Council, a show and tell about the work we’ve been doing today about what is next for practicing and evaluating the impact of design, and for those who are interested in becoming one of our Design Associates.
