Design Hothouse Residency

Design Hothouse is a collaborative residency, supporting two emerging designers - Rachel Cowie & Beth Schmidt - as they work together in Blick Shared Studios over a 2-month period from July – September 2026 on a live brief.

Together, Rachel and Beth have been working on researching, developing and collaborating on the “Design After Dark” project by Belfast Design Week with an output during Culture Night Belfast 2026 at Bankmore Square, Belfast.

Throughout their residency, they have received mentorship, feedback and guidance from Blick Shared Studios, Belfast Design Week and guest designers Alex Synge, Maureen Selina Laverty, David Woods, Lorna McFall, Molly Long and Nigel Murray.
